Napoleonic road

Lenght: 5 km
Duration of hike:
1 h 30 min

The Napoleonic Road is a 5 km footpath leading from Občine to Prosek. It begins at the Obelisk in Občine from where we have a wonderful view of the Gulf of Trieste. The Obelisk is a symbol of the connection between the Port of Trieste and the hinterland of the old Austro-Hungarian Empire. In addition to the panoramic view of Trieste, the walk along the karst edge high above the sea offers a wonderful view of a part of the Istrian coast and Tržič. On the final and for some the most beautiful part of the path, you can see a huge crag which is now called Napoleonica and is used for rock climbing. It is very popular with climbers, not just because it is challenging, but also because it offers a beautiful view of the sea. At weekends, the "Napoleonika" is a popular spot for walks for the inhabitants of Trieste. This is a fairly easy gravel trail suitable for everyone.
