Divača cave

Lenght: 700m
Depth: 76m
Duration of tour: 1 h
Divača Cave is one of the lesser known caves in this area. Its beautiful stalagmites, sinter formations, cypresses, curtains and candles are a few examples of the wealth of speleological forms it has to show its visitors. A visit to this cave is thus a truly exceptional experience and also a unique opportunity to learn about the development of karstic phenomena.

The entrance to the cave is somewhat hidden from the eye, as it is moved to the back of a sinkhole from where you descend down a steep flight of stairs to its first mighty chamber called the Ballroom. It measures 700 m in length, of which 500 m are suitable for visiting. The entire tour lasts approximately 1 hour and its total descent measures 76 m.

Visits to this cave have been enabled by the Gregor Žiberna Caving Club which administers the cave and facilitates visits. Members of the club have recently installed extra lighting and made a walking path. Although most of the cave is now lit, there are some areas that have remained intact and allow us to explore the cave using headlamps, like true cavers.
